New Delhi, July 17 (MExN): A delegation of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) called on Ajit Lal, Advisor (North East) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, in New Delhi on Thursday and urged him to expedite the Naga peace process.
The delegation appealed to the Advisor to “sincerely” carry forward the ongoing peace talks and steer them towards a logical and early conclusion, while remaining sensitive to the deep-seated emotions and legitimate aspirations of the Naga people, the NSF stated in a press release.
The Advisor was also briefed on the prevailing situation of violence and unrest in the region, particularly the Naga-Kuki conflict. The delegation underscored the urgent need for the immediate restoration of normalcy and peace, it said.
According to the NSF, the meeting marked a significant step in reaffirming the collective demand for a political resolution to the decades-old Naga political issue.
The Advisor, who is also a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured them that he would look into the matter, the NSF added.
