Phek, June 25 (MExN): Seized contraband worth approximately Rs 2.80 crore was destroyed at the Phek Town Council’s dumping site on June 24.
According to a press release, the seized drugs, narcotics, and psychotropic/controlled substances were seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and produced before the Phek district court. The items were destroyed in the presence of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, representatives from District Administration, Police, APP Court Phek, DB, and PI Staff, it said.
A short briefing was delivered by District Session Judge, Mezivolu T Therieh, at the site. She said that a programme for preventive measures will be held to coincide with the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
