Naga statesman and peace activist Niketu Iralu will receive the Bhupen Hazarika Integration Award (Xomonnoy Bota) 2023. The award, instituted by the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust in 2013, is given away annually. Its first recipient was Lata Mangeshkar.
Iralu will be presented the award by the Trust on September 8 at a ceremony hosted by the Debraj Roy College, Golaghat. The date coincides with the birth anniversary Assam’s preeminent cultural icon, Dr Bhupen Hazarika, also referred to as the ‘Bard of the Brahmaputra.”
According to a source familiar with the Trust, the award is given to personalities, who have made significant contribution to the society, the work having impact across cultures.
