Mokokchung, February 6 (MExN): Awareness campaign for Mission Shakti along with inspection and enforcement of PC & PNDT Act 1994 was carried out at Anava Hospital, Mokokchung on February 4. It was initiated by the District Administration and SANKALP: District Hub for Empowerment of women- Mission Shakti under the aegis of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Mokokchung, stated a DIPR report.
The enforcement of this Act is one of the key elements of BBBP where regular surveys of diagnostic centers and Hospitals are monitor for the effective implementation of the Act. The Act intends to prohibit prenatal diagnostic techniques for determination of the sex of the fetus letting to female feticide.
The inspection was conducted in the presences of police personnel and Staffs from Chief Medical Office (CMO), Mokokchung along with DHEW staff, Mokokchung.
