Attempted armed robbery foiled at SBI Chedema branch

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): A swift response from bank security personnel prevented an armed robbery at the State Bank of India (SBI) Chedema branch in Kohima on October 31.

According to the Kohima Police, the incident occurred at around 12:30 pm when an unidentified male suspect entered the bank premises armed with a pistol and threatened the use of a body-worn explosive device while demanding money from the staff.

The on-duty security guards at the bank intervened immediately and managed to recover the entire looted amount as well as seize the pistol from the suspect. However, despite their efforts, the individual managed to escape from the scene.

A case has been registered at the North Police Station, Kohima, and investigation is underway to trace and apprehend the suspect.

“The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information or suspicious activity to the Kohima Police immediately,” stated the Kohima Police PRO in a press release.
