Nagaland Advisor reviews infra works at Dimapur railway station, airport

Dimapur, July 21 (MExN): Advisor for Airways and Railways, A Pongshi Phom, on Monday visited the Dimapur Railway Station and Dimapur Airport to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects and discuss issues requiring coordinated intervention for their development.

During the visit, Phom chaired a review meeting at the railway station, focusing on the proposed Modern Railway Station under Phase-I, stated a DIPR report. He assessed the progress of construction works and flagged issues that need immediate attention. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary, A.I.R. Cell, Thsuvisie Phoji; Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr Tinojongshi Chang; OSD M. Ababe Ezung; and officials from the Railways and district administration.

Later, at the Dimapur Airport, the Advisor held a review meeting with Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials, including Airport Director Moa Pongen, to deliberate on the status of development and challenges affecting expansion. Discussions covered land acquisition, waterlogging, garbage disposal, runway development, and overall infrastructural growth.

Addressing the officials, Phom stressed that since Nagaland has only one airport, the State Government and AAI must work in close coordination to resolve pending issues and expedite development.

He stated that the purpose of the visit was to understand ground-level challenges, gather suggestions from stakeholders, and identify practical solutions. He assured that the concerns raised would be taken up with the competent authorities for necessary follow-up.

AAI’s APD Moa Pongen presented a brief history of the airport and sought the State Government’s continued support in resolving land-related hurdles and meeting basic requirements for expansion. Both sides exchanged suggestions to improve inter-departmental coordination and address the existing bottlenecks.
