According to an Office Memorandum issued by the NHPS, dated October 31, 2026, the provision for emergency approval under the CMHIS General Category shall stand discontinued. However, the emergency approval mechanism will continue to remain applicable to beneficiaries registering under the CMHIS Employee and Pensioner Category.
The memorandum has also laid down revised provisions for registration of single-member households under both CMHIS (EP) and CMHIS (GC).
As per the revised guidelines, registration of single-member households shall not ordinarily be permitted. However, in cases where an individual is the sole member of a household, registration may be considered subject to the submission of an affidavit sworn before a Notary Public or Magistrate.
The affidavit must be based on a declaration issued by the Chairman of the Village Council, Ward Chairman or Gaon Bura (GB), as applicable. It is mandatory for applicants to upload the affidavit at the time of registration for verification and approval.
The revised provisions shall come into effect from the date of issue of the memorandum.
