Peren, September 6 (MExN): In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police intercepted a truck carrying a consignment of illegal foreign-origin cigarettes valued at Rs 1.29 crore in the Tening area of Peren district on September 5.
According to a press release from HQ IGAR (N), the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the inflow of contraband into Nagaland. It stated that such seizures not only prevent the loss of government revenue but also help safeguard local markets and communities from the harmful effects of unchecked illegal trade.
The seized consignment has been handed over to the concerned agencies for further investigation and necessary action, it added.
