With no response from the state government even after the 48-hour deadline to resolve the superannuation issue, the Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) kicked-off its state-wide indefinite strike on October 28.
NIDA had submitted an ultimatum on October 25 giving the Government of Nagaland 48 hours to give a positive response on the superannuation age of medical doctors in the state.
However, with complete silence on the part of the government, NIDA began its indefinite strike. NIDA members from all the districts of the state put up banners in the hospitals.
According to the NIDA Media Cell, the first day passed off successfully with complete cessation of works except for emergency and life saving services.
It further informed that the strike would continue until the demand of NIDA is fulfilled.
Meanwhile, NIDA extended its deep regret for the inconvenience caused to the general public as a result of the strike.
