Kohima, April 24 (MExN): A construction labourer, kidnapped from Kohima on Monday, was rescued from Pfütsero on April 23 in what the police described as a “daring night operation” by a combined police team from Kohima led by SDPO (North) and assisted by Phek Police.
According to the Kohima Police PRO, the police operation was initiated following a complaint on April 22 that a labourer (non-tribal) was kidnapped by unknown miscreants under the pretext of house construction.
Subsequently, the kidnappers began demanding Rs 5 lakh as ransom for the release of the hostage.
However, supported by technical input, the police operation successfully rescued the labourer and also apprehended two accused persons belonging to a Naga Political Group, the police said.
In this regard, a case has been registered at North Police Station Kohima, and further investigation is ongoing, it added.
