Kiphire, May 27 (MExN): A one-day awareness campaign was held on May 23 in two Government Schools under Pungro sub-division, Kiphire, to commemorate World No Tobacco Day.
According to a press release, the team was led by Dr. Weri Mero, Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Pungro.
During the campaign, the ill effects of tobacco, harmful effects of smoking, and the number of deaths per year caused by tobacco were highlighted, and IEC (information, education, and communication) materials were distributed to the students. With the theme, “Protecting children from tobacco industry interference,” World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) will be observed on May 31.
