Dimapur, March 13 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory forecasting unstable conditions across the state from March 13 to 16, with predictions of localized thunderstorms, lightning and light to moderate rainfall.
According to a statement released by Dr Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer of the NSDMA, under the Home Department, the districts likely to be affected between March 13 and 15 include Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Zunheboto, Tuensang, Peren and Phek.
The advisory predicted isolated heavy rainfall at a few locations on March 13 and 14, particularly in the districts of Longleng, Mokokchung and Wokha. Furthermore, intermittent light to moderate rainfall is also expected in Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Peren and Noklak during the same period.
“The state is expected to experience unstable weather conditions characterized by scattered thunderstorms, lightning activity, and intermittent rainfall, with localized heavy downpours in a few districts,” the NSDMA stated. In light of the forecast, the NSDMA, has advised residents and concerned authorities to remain cautious and stay updated with weather advisories during this period.
It also urged the public to exercise caution to any eventualities during this period. It has also directed all District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property.
