372 patients avail LCD’s free diabetes & dental screening camp in Dimapur

Lions Club Dimapur (LCD) organised a free Diabetes and Dental screening camp for the public of Dimapur on January 29 at the club’s centre located at Midland, Dimapur. 

A total of 372 patients were screened throughout the entire day. The project was done under the initiative of its President, Sandeep Bakliwal; Sanjay Jaiswal, Secretary and Dr Arihant Jain, Project Chairperson.

According to Bakliwal, the main emphasis of the medical camp was for treating diabetic and dental patients along with providing them awareness about health issues pertaining to these two areas. “We had Dr C Manpa Phom, MD Medicine come in for treating diabetic patients. They were screened for blood pressure and sugar levels and based on their condition were also provided with medicines free of cost,” he said. 

The other doctors who had come for the screening camp were Dr Ankit Jain, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon; Dr Bathel Yeptho, Pedodontist; Dr Arihant Jain, Orthodontist; Dr Adiya Apon, Periodontist; and Dr Manini Monica, Prosthodontist & Implantologist. 

“The screening and the medicines were all free of cost and we received a good number of responses from the people of Dimapur,” he added. For LCD, although the club had conducted free eye screening camps before, this was their first time organising a camp particularly for diabetic and dental patients. “We want to make this a permanent fixture of our annual activities for the club,” Bakilwal noted. 

During the Camp a seminar-cum-presentation was provided for Diabetes and Dental awareness to the benefit of the general public. 

Speaking with Dr Arihant Jain, Project Chairperson and Orthodontist, he noted that a bulk of the patients were children under the age of 13 years. These included students from St Mary’s Montessori School and Sharon Home of Hope Orphanage. “Most of the patients were from low-income households or less-economically advantaged families,” he said.

In total, the club spent Rs 2.50 lakh for the entire project which included Rs 1.15 lakh for medicines,food and staffs.
