38 nurses inducted for 10BedICU hub in 12 districts

Thirty eight nurses for 10BedICU for 12 district of Nagaland were inducted today (June 30) at a function held at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) Auditorium.

Speaking at the induction programme, Y Kikheto Sema, commissioner & secretary for health and family welfare said that the status of ICU before Covid pandemic was not sufficient in the state both in government and private hospitals.

“Covid was a blessing in disguise for us. We are now equipped with the ICU facilities with the help of 10BedICU eGov Foundation in 12 Districts Hospitals,” he said.

Thanking Vinod Khosla, Nandan Nilekani, Srikanth Nadhamuni and eGov Foundation & team under the leadership of Bisoya Loitongbam, Director, 10BedICU eGov Foundation for their help and support, Kikheto said “They have donated the best and latest equipments worth more than Rs 32 crores.”

The 10BedICU was launched by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on January 6 this year.

The main objective of 10BedICU is to help critical patients in remote and difficult area to access the service of specialist doctors in the hub hospital through TeleICU.

The TeleICU supported hospitals in Nagaland includes; NHAK, Kohima, District Hospital, Dimapur, DMMDH, Wokha, District Hospital, Phek, District Hospital, Tuensang, District Hospital, Noklak, IMDH, Mokokchung, District Hospital, Kiphire, District Hospital, Peren, HMDH Zunheboto, District Hospital, Longleng and District Hospital, Mon.
’10Bed ICU hub the best in terms of equipments, scope of service’

10BedICU hub is one of the best ever gift to the people of Nagaland both in term of quality of critical care infrastructure and the scope of its service, the commissioner & secretary said.

Initially there was tethering problem due to logistic issues such as irregularities of electricity, network of BSNL, JIO etc. and manpower particularly, nurses to manage it. But we are happy that high speed internet connectivity is established in 8 district hospitals and we are pursuing the matter for the remaining 3 districts- Mon, Noklak and Peren, he said.

Kikheto expressed gratitude to the 10BedICU e-Gov for funding/sponsoring remuneration for 40 Nurses initially for 3 years to manage the project in Nagaland.

“From the launching of 10BedICU from January 6, 2023 till today, about 212 patients have been admitted and treated and as of today, we have 11 active patients in different ICUs, he said.

To the inducted nurses, he said “you all are very lucky as you are going to have unique experience of working with the most modern ICU equipment which will also help you for your future career. You are an angel to look after the needy and serious patients. All the very best in your mission and God bless you.”

“Our wish is to let our people interface with their parents, family members & love ones from far and near about the status of their health which saves time and money,” he said.

The burning desire of our state and particularly chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Health & Family Welfare minister P Paiwang Konyak is to provide affordable and accessible health care to all its citizen and we are all working to achieve the same, the commissioner and secretary added.

Bisoya Loitongbam, Director, 10BedICU eGov Foundation also spoke at the programme while Phalneithem, ICU Nurse shared “A learning experience.”

The programme was chaired by Dr C Tetseo, additional director, Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland and SNO, co-convener, 10bedICU. Dr Akhrie, nodal officer NHAK TeleICU delivered welcome address.

Later, certificates were handed over to the inducted nurses by Y Kikheto Sema, Bisoya Loitongbam, Dr C Tetseo, Dr Sentimeren, managing director NHAK and Dr Ritu Thurr, mission director NHM Nagaland.
