DIMAPUR, September 1 (MExN): A team from the Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD) comprising of Rev Moses Murry, Rev Vitoshe Swu, Rev Dr N Paphino, and Archbishop Thomas undertook the forum’s third relief visit to Manipur from August 26 to 28.

A press release from the CFD informed that the team visited two Meitie relief camps at Moirang district and two Kuki relief camps at Churachandpur. The team also had a prayer fellowship with the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO), Metie Christian Churches Council Manipur (MCCCM), Kuki Baptist Association (KBA) and Kuki Christian Leaders Fellowship (KCLF).

The team exhorted the leaders to uphold their faith and work together with a hope for restoration of peace and justice in Manipur. The team members assured that they will organise a joint meeting with the Christian leaders of the Meitie and Kuki communities in order to strengthen and restore the relationship between the two communities irrespective of faith.

They further expressed gratitude to the AMCO, MCCCM, KBA and KCLF for organising the programme for the CFD team’s visit.

The CFD meanwhile informed that a prayer rally and candle light service will be held on September 3 at 5:00 pm at DDSC Stadium (Public Ground) under the theme ‘Pursue Peace and Justice’ (Psalm 34:14, Isaiah 1:17) with the purpose to appeal to the Central Government and State Government of Manipur to restore peace and justice in Manipur.

The forum also appealed to the government to rebuild the religious institutions, particularly Churches, which have been destroyed during the violence, so that the people of Manipur who have been displaced can come back to their homes and worship.

It encouraged all Christian leaders and believers in and around Dimapur, including people of other faiths, to participate in the event and express their solidarity and support for peace and justice in Manipur.
