CPO meet discusses Naga issue, repealing of AFSPA

Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) in its first coordination meeting for the year 2022 with Chakhesang frontal organisations discussed the importance of unity between Naga Political Groups (NPGs), illegal taxation within Chakhesang jurisdiction and to repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 among other issues.

A press release by CPO general secretary, Chepetso Koza stated that the meeting held on January 27 at Phek Town was attended by Chakhesang frontal organisations namely Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA), Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF), Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU).
The release stated that the meeting stressed on the importance of unity amongst various NPGs, removal of illegal taxations in Chakhesang land and repeal of AFSPA (1958).

The house also deliberated on issues such as monitoring educational institutions both in the government and private sectors for productive and effective outcome, revival of cultural identities, significance of farming, the urgent need to revive the two pig farms in the district, self-reliance and entrepreneurship amongst others.

The values, visions and missions of the frontal organisations were shared and deliberated at length in the meeting for the welfare of the community in particular and Nagas in general, stated the release.

Earlier, in his address, CPO president Vezuhu Keyho emphasized on the need for mutual understanding and cooperation amongst various frontal bodies. He also encouraged the gathering to have a more forward outlook and plan yearly action targets accordingly.

The coordination meeting was chaired by CPO vice president Vecito Dozo.
