Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): Four persons involved in vehicular theft were arrested by the Sub-urban Police Station Team, Dimapur Police with the assistance of Pimla village council on May 1.
According to the Dimapur Police PRO, the team also recovered three stolen bike – a Super Splendor; an Xpulse 200 (NL 07EA 7555); and one Xpulse (NLO7E13 5953), while a car (Alto 800 AS I 2P 1424), allegedly used for the commission of the crime was also seized from their possession.
In a press release, the PRO identified the four apprehended ‘miscreants’ as Vito Awomi (37 yrs); Rajupio Tokato Awomi (29 yrs) NSCN-IM Kitoka Awomi (35 yrs) and Kughashe Swu (30 yrs). They are all residents of Pimla village.
All the apprehended accused persons along with the seized vehicles were brought to the police station and were taken into custody after observing all legal formalities and case has been booked under relevant section of law and investigation is ongoing, the PRO informed.
Meanwhile, in an update on its official Facebook account on Wednesday, the Dimapur Police described the arrested individuals as a ‘bike lifters gang’
As per the police, the bikes and vehicle were stolen using a “master key” by starting them directly without involvement of handle breaking and direct wiring.
