Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has cautioned government schools in Nagaland against charging excess fees and to strictly adhere to the revised fee structure notified by the department on June 17, 2022.

The same structure was reiterated again on January 25, 2024.

The DoSE issued the caution notice on May 6 after learning that few government schools were charging more than the allowed fees as per the June 17 notification.

For general awareness, the DoSE also highlighted that as per the June 17 fee structure, schools providing uniforms, t-shirts, neck tie, belt etc must get the rates approved by the respective School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs).

The NBSE fee shall be modified in accordance with the notifications being issued by the Board from time to time, it added.

As per the June 17 fee structure, a student has to pay a total amount of Rs 2300 in Class 9 and Rs 1600 in Class 10 for a year during admission.

The charges for Class 11 depend on each stream and ranged from Rs 3150 to 4650.

In class 12, the admission fees are from 1850 to 3350 (see box).

Students are exempted from admission and exam fees upto Class 8 as per the Right to Education Act 2009, except for any fees required by the Nagaland Board of School Education.
