INTENSIFIED COVID-19 SENSITISATION DRIVES CONTINUE ACROSS THE STATE

DIMAPUR, June 30: Lizu New under Zunheboto Sadar, Izheto under Akuluto block and Vishepu under Satakha block achieved 100% first dose of vaccination.

In a press release, CMO office Zunheboto, district media officer Shekho Sophie informed that the village GBs and elders came forward with a determination to vaccinate all its eligible citizens in order to achieve 100% vaccination.

A total of 84 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in Izheto, 97 in Lizu new and 179 in Vishepu village. Door to door vaccination was also carried out.

To encourage others to come forward, the block task force Satakha led by ADC Satakha TL Kiusumong Tikhir rewarded Vishepu village for vaccinating all its eligible beneficiaries.

Meanwhile in Dimapur, the Rilan village council declared 100 percent vaccination of all its eligible population on June 28.

In a press release, district programme officer Dr. Rebecca informed that this was relayed to the office of the chief medical officer, Dimapur by the RVC chairman. The chairman informed that a total of 400 eligible 18 and above beneficiaries were vaccinated.

The office of CMO Dimapur acknowledged the declaration and appreciated the support of RVC and the commendable willingness of Rilan village community to get vaccinated.

Tsg DPDB discuss vaccination campaign: Tuensang district planning and development board meeting was held at DC’s conference hall, Tuensang on June 29 which was chaired by DC and vice chairman DPDB, Kumar Ramnikant.

According to DIPR report, the members discussed the approval of COVID-19 expenditure against LADP 2021 earmarked to aid CMO, district hospital and other COVID related expenditures.

The house also discussed vaccination drive and decided to assign all the heads of the district to conduct vaccination campaigns with assigned villages. The vaccination team would be led by HoD with members from representatives of tribal hohos, church, council etc.

The agenda on creation of the deputy commandant post at Tuensang and training centre for VG was discussed and decided to forward to the concerned authority for approval.

Construction of 100 meter CC footsteps at anganwadi center, Yungphang sector was discussed and would be forwarded to the concerned department and further forwarded to chairman, DPDB Tuensang.

Proposal for inclusion of representative of All Ward Union Tuensang Town was discussed and agreed to forward to the chairman DPDB Tuensang for consideration.

Kohima DTF stresses on COVID testing: DTF Kohima held a meeting on June 29 headed by DC and chairman DTF Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie along with advisor, urban development and municipal affair, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, advisor technical education and election, Medo Yhokha which was attended by HoD and representatives from AKMWP, KCCI and KVYO.

In the meeting, the agenda of high power committee was highlighted and members discussed modalities and measures on activating unlock phase 1 from July 1.

The members reiterated on the situation of COVID-19 and deliberated on the importance of testing and to trace out actual position on the rise of positive percentage.

Reviewing the status of vaccination, DTF acknowledged the progress in the district and encouraged to take up more measures and awareness to sensitise and vaccinate all eligible beneficiaries.

To create more awareness on vaccination progress, KCCI initiated a vaccination card to be pasted at the entrance of the shops (indicating that the shopkeeper has been vaccinated).

The KCCI and AKMWP were requested to assist DTF in monitoring malls, markets and shopping complex and regulate additional SOPs to avoid overcrowding in the next unlock phase.

The DTF also requested all the leaders of the wards to identify positive patients and strictly adhere to the SOPs of isolation and to track till the isolation period.

Further, DTF decided that after getting the directive from HPC, future course of action would be issued. The meeting concluded with suggestions from members to strictly enforce odd even practices and to strictly follow COVID-19 protocols.

Peren DTF share concerns over poor response from public: Peren DTF on COVID-19 & vaccination committee held a meeting on June 28 at DC’s conference hall, Peren under the chairmanship of DC Peren & DTF Chairman, Sentiwapang Aier.

According to DIPR report, the DC took report on the current status of COVID-19 and vaccination status in the district from district health authorities while deputy CMO, Dr. Lanuakum Jamir highlighted on the current status in the district.

The house discussed on matters related to the rapid surge of positive cases in the district. Other areas of concern discussed in the meeting included poor public response to vaccination campaigns, lack of cooperation from the public for COVID-19 testing during contact tracing, non-adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour by public, inactive participation of ward/village task forces and active spread of rumours/fake news on social media regarding COVID vaccine.

Expressing concern over the low progress of COVID-19 vaccination drives in the district, DC said that unless the community came forward, the performance of the district would remain poor.

In this regard, the DC asked civil societies and faith based organisations to cooperate with district health authorities and administration to achieve targeted result in the district.

NZPO president also requested all the citizens of Peren district to follow government SOPs, cooperate with frontline workers, get vaccinated, avoid rumours and actively participate in containing the disease.

Vaccination at Salomi and Amikioro: A vaccination drive was organised at Salomi HWC-sub centre under Pungro HQ, Kiphire on June 29.

According to DIPR report, 44 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 and 17 beneficiaries in the category of 45 years and above received the vaccination.

Meanwhile, another vaccination drive was held at Amikioro village, organised by PHC Likhimro under Pungro ADC led by Dr Kedusato. 17 beneficiaries were vaccinated on June 29 and a total of 34 people have been vaccinated so far.

Vaccination drive underway at Pungro town: A special vaccination drive got underway, under the initiative of ADC Pungro, Abhinav Shivam and medical team on June 29.

The vaccination drive was carried out simultaneously at two wards. The medical team led by Dr. Kisheka vaccinated at Old Bazaar ward where 36 beneficiaries availed the vaccine while the team led by Dr. Bipenthung Jami vaccinated 90 beneficiaries. A total of 126 beneficiaries were vaccinated during the drive.

Special vaccination drive to be conducted at Kiphire: A special vaccination drive on COVID-19 sensitisation programme would be organised by district horticulture office, Kiphire in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kiphire on July 2 & 3 at seven villages under Kiphire district with KVK, Kiphire senior scientist, Dr. N. Khumdemo Ezung as resource person. The targeted villages are Latsu, Sangkhumti, Kiusisu, Metonger, Kissam town, Kiusam village and Chikiuponger.

Sensitisation and vaccination drive at Tening: A sensitisation programme and vaccination drive for all eligible persons under Tening sub-division Peren was held at various villages under the initiative of sub-divisional task force Tening for COVID-19 on June 28.

While speaking at the programme at New Tesen village, ADC Tening Rosietho Nguori lauded the village task force members and village council members headed by village chairman for their cooperation towards SDTF.

Nguori encouraged the members to be ambassadors on COVID-19 vaccination drive in disseminating the importance of vaccine to the community.

He also highlighted on the roles and responsibilities of VTF members on how to establish community Covid care centre and enforcement of COVID-19 SOPs provided by the government to ensure attachment of guidelines on home isolation and proper care including food facilities and free movement of health care workers/frontline workers for essential services and limitations of non-essential or unavoidable movement of people.

MO Tening, Dr. Nuksang Jamir spoke on basic management of COVID-19 and its vaccination and Covid related dead body management. He expressed concerned that many people were reluctant to avail proper medical advice fearing the testing of COVID-19. However, he said that the vaccine status and people’s attitude towards the pandemic was positive and the only solution to fight against the virus was to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, a vaccination drive was carried out at old Ngaulong village and Bamsiakelwa village on June 29.

DHS Mon receives ambulance: District Health Society, (DHS) Mon received an ambulance at CMO’s office in the presence of advisor, fire & emergency services, SIRD, relief & rehabilitation, Pohwang Konyak on June 29.

In a press release, district media officer, NHM Mon, Leeyan Chemshy informed that the advisor handed over ambulance of Phomching PHC allotted by H&FW department. The dedicatory prayer was offered by KSU vice president, Yuwang Konyak. Short speeches were also delivered by KNSK advisor and president followed by vote of thanks by chief medical officer, Dr Kechongol Sophie. The programme was attended by DHS Chairman and Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, KNSK, KSU and department officials of CMO office, Mon.
