Fourth Edition of Asia Music Summit 2024 enters day two

The 2nd day of the three day long 4th Asia Music Summit (AMS) 2024 on February 2 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma was marked by panel discussion, workshop and music showcase. This Summit is an initiative of MusiConnect Asia and hosted and co-organized by Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Government of Nagaland.

Panel Discussion 1 touched on Music Education with Ujjwal Mukhia (India), Mehreen Mahmud (Bangladesh), and Lipokmar Tzudir (India) as panelists and Khyochano TCK (India) as moderator.

This session highlighted endurance in career, building confidence, deepening appreciation and understanding of music & arts, impacting learning, influencing community etc.

Panel Discussion 2 touched on the topic “Programming a Festival and Music Market – Challenges & Solutions.”

The leaders shared global perspectives on programming strategies, unveiling both the challenges and innovative Panelists Alejandro Orellana (WOMAD Chile), Alfredo Caxaj (Sunfest), Carlos Seixas (FMM Sines), Fabio Scopino (Napoli World) and Lama Hazboun (Amman Jazz Festival) provided insights into the details of curating memorable festival experiences, and uncover the strategies that drive successful festival programming globally.

Divya Bhatia (Jodhpur RIFF) assisted the session as the moderator. Rumpa Banerjee (India) conducted Workshop 1 on “Creators Rights to Royalty” (IPRS) as mentor.

This workshop updated safeguarding one rights and boosting earnings as an independent artist. It also highlighted music copyright, protecting intellectual property and how Indian Performing Right Society Limited stands by its members in licensing and protecting their music.

“Artist Management and The Agency World”
Fabio Scopino (Italy) and Sungchun Lee (South Korea) conducted 2nd workshop on the topic “Artist Management and The Agency World.”

This session addressed issues related to artist management and the agency world, such as the current climate of the agency business and artist management, international agencies on representation of Asian artists, Asian artist development, international agencies involvement with Asian agencies for the benefit of Asian artists or for increased exposure and knowledge of Asian Artist development.

Panel discussion 3 was marked by Asian Networking Session, wherein Festival Directors from across Asia shared their insights, experiences, and vision for the future of the music industry in their respective countries.
Networking session was a convergence of visionaries, bringing together Festival Directors from India, Indonesia, Bhutan, and Nepal, in an enriching exchange of insights and experiences as these luminaries shared their perspectives on shaping the future of the music industry in their diverse cultural landscapes.

The panelists includes: Divya Bhatia (India), Eddie Prithviraj (India), Franki Raden (Indonesia), Riju Tuladhar (Nepal), Sonam Dorji (Bhutan) and Poom Piyasu Komaradat (Thailand). Lama Hazboun (Jordan) was the moderator.

Jason Mayall (UK/Japan) conducted Mentoring Session 1 on “Touring Japan, the challenges- Touring Insights.”

Day 2 Music showcase featured Benri Moses, Atsa Lang Roths (Nagaland Ensemble), Cantamus Choir, NChanter, Abiogenesis, Version 2, Trance Effect, Imna Yaden, Jonathan Angami and Abdon Mech.

Southern Angami Cultural Society performed as guest appearance.
