Dr Haralu colony gate inaugurated

Governance is about working continuously for the welfare of the citizens, said H Tovihoto Ayemi, Advisor for Power. Ayemi, who represents 1 Dimapur I Assembly Constituency, was speaking at a programme on September 3 at Dr Haralu colony commemorating the erection of a new entrance gate to the residential colony.
According to him, the elected representatives work tirelessly for the welfare of the people and it has been so since day one of the present government. “It is a continuing process,” he said, while adding that the public has a big role to play, as well. “The public in return has to give full cooperation to the government and its agencies to get things done.”
On the significance of the occasion, he said that gateways are an essential feature of Naga villages, which in one way serves as identity markers. Likewise, he said that the gateway inaugurated today is important to the residents of Dr Haralu colony and the colony council. He further termed the colony council as a strong body, backed up by cooperative residents, which proactively takes up issues in the interest of the residents. The colony, with its diverse makeup of residents from different communities, reflects the cosmopolitan nature of Dimapur, he added.
A longtime resident of the colony and a one-time member of the erstwhile Dimapur Town Committee, GK Rengma said that the colony could erect a gate after 26 years. While paying tributes to the founder of the colony, he informed that the colony was officially recognized by the state government on August 1, 1996.
