Health Melas conducted across Nagaland

DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): Health melas were conducted across several districts of Nagaland in commemoration of the 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav

The District Health Society (DHS), Peren organised a block health mela on April 30 in Tening CHC and Ahthibung PHC.

Yimkum I Ozukum, EAC, Nsong encouraged the community to adopt healthy life styles stating that Government of India has introduced the health mela with the target of improving the health status of the population.

He urged the people to grab the health services opportunity which were being provided in the health melas all free of cost.

Dr M Nuksung Jamir gave brief highlights of the mela. Dr Menangtongzuk chaired the programme and Rev Namteubui, Pastor, Zeme Baptist Church, Tening invoked God’s blessing.

Altogether 232 patients were treated in Tening CHC and a total of 10 HIV screenings, 7 Malaria screenings, 41 Cataract screenings for above 40 years old, 88 diabetes screenings, 2 TB screenings, 15 ABHA Health card generations, and 15 Dental checkups were done.

The medical team was led by Dr Valentina Neikha, Dr Menangtongzuk, Dr Keyireusap Ndang, Dr M Nuksung Jamir, nurses, lab technicians, Ophthalmic Assistants and staffs from vertical programmes.

In Ahthibung PHC, altogether 262 patients were treated and a total of 10 HIV screenings, 2 Malaria screenings, 55 Cataract screenings for above 40 years old, 78 diabetes screenings, 5 TB screenings, 30 ABHA Health card generations and 10 Outreach BIS Drives: issue of Ayushman Health Insurance Card was carried out along with 50 oral cancer screenings. 40 participants participated in yoga and meditation.

Temsumenla Kipgen, BPM, Tening block chaired the programme. Short speech was given by PK Haolai, Head GB, Ahthibung town; welcome address was delivered by Dr Vezokholu Khamo; Dr Thangmang Thomsong gave a health talk; and Palai Misao, KBA, Development Secretary invoked God’s blessing and Dr C Arba Ao gave the vote of thanks.

The medical team was led by Dr Thangmang Thomsong, Dr C Arba Ao, Dr Vezokholu Khamo, CHO nurses, lab technicians, Ophthalmic Assistants and staffs from vertical programmes.

Medical services and medicines were provided free of cost. IEC materials, FGD and IPC were also conducted during the mela.

The Ayushman Bharat Block Health Mela concluded at Tuli CHC, Mokokchung on April 30. The health mela was conducted at all the blocks of Mokokchung District namely, Sabangya, Changtongya, Alongkima, Mangkolemba, Tsurangkong and Tuli from April 25 to 30.

The Government of India along with the Department of Health and Family Welfare adopted the strategy of organizing health melas to provide health education besides providing health care services free of cost.

The health services provided included free medical checkup and treatment, free spectacles, counseling, creation of Unique Health ID under ABDM & facilitate provision of Ayushman Bharat Card under AB-PM-JAY.

Over 1500 of the population participated during the six)day health mela conducted at 6 blocks of Mokokchung district, while over 300 Ayushman Bharat Cards and Unique Health IDs were generated.

Led by Dr R Chubala Aier Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung, DPOs, SMOs, MOs & staffs and staff from allied departments worked to provide quality and accessible health care services to the community.

In Zunheboto, the Block Health Mela which was commenced on April 28 at all six different blocks under Zunheboto district and concluded on April 30.

Twenty Medical officers were engaged during the Mela and the healthcare services available were general check up, screening of HIV, diabetes, hypertension, malaria, collection of sputum for TB, oral health services, tooth extraction, ayurveda, free drug dispensing and COVID-19 vaccination drive.

IEC posters, pamphlets and leaflets were also distributed.

During the health Mela, the beneficiaries administered in the blocks were Zunheboto Sadar (148), Satakha (182), Aghunato (175), Suruhuto (185), Pughoboto (228), and Akuluto (165).
