DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Core Committee of 4 wards from Mokokchung town has written to the Urban Development Department and the Department of Municipal Affairs informing that the scheduled indefinite bandh on the stretech from Artang Junction to Police Point which was supposed to begin today has been postponed for 14 days till December 15.

In its letter, the Core Committee representing the wards of Penli, Majakong, Artang and Lijaba Lijen said that this decision was taken during a meeting on December 1 to facilitate the necessary processing of formalities for the repair of the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) road.

It stated that consequent to the earlier representation of the four wards, the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung informed that the Government of Nagaland has released the required amount for the said road works.

Moreover the DC has stated that the work will begin once the Urban Engineering Wing of the Department of Urban Development has completed the necessary official procedures, the Core Committee informed.

“During this fortnight, it is expected that the Urban Engineering wing, DUD, will complete the necessary works in earnest and start the repair works as soon as possible,” it hoped.

“However, if the necessary works are not completed within the next fortnight and if the works are not started, the Core Committee of the four wards will carry on our own course of action, and the consequences will be borne solely by the government,” it cautioned.
