Inculcate civic sense among masses: MLA Moatoshi urges Dimapur DPDB

Dimapur, June 4 (MExN): MLA and Chairperson of the Dimapur District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Moatoshi Longkumer has urged officers to inculcate civic sense among the general public in order to keep the city clean, a DIPR report stated on Friday.

Addressing the first board meeting after the bifurcation of the district, the MLA on Friday dubbed Dimapur as the “most happening district” in terms of floods, clogged drains, and lack of civic sense among the populace. Moatoshi admitted that the existing problems cannot be turned around overnight; however, he was optimistic that with collective efforts, the face of Dimapur could be changed.

According to the DIPR, Moatoshi reminded the officers that they were ‘the privileged ones’ to be posted in Dimapur, and as such, exhorted them to work diligently by contributing through action and verbal inputs, over and above their normal duties, for the betterment of Dimapur.

He sought for collective suggestions and welcomed positive criticism while urging upon the Head of Departments (HoDs) to work together, it stated.

In the meeting, Moatoshi is also said to have proposed the purchase of a truck mounted with street sweeping machine through the common pool fund along with construction of more toilets through Swaach Bharat scheme.

The Dimapur Deputy Commissioner who is also the Board Vice-chairperson, chaired the meeting and thanked all the members, HoDs under Dimapur district for being supportive in all the DPDB related activities and advised them to continue to render their best services and to set an example to all the DPDBs.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur Chief Medical Officer highlighted in brief about the COVID- 19 scenario and vaccination status of the district.

Other agendas of the day included recommendations for upgrading and shifting of some schools; proposal for opening of new schools; and Grant-in-Aid for St John Higher Secondary Residential School, Indisen village, Dimapur, the report stated. Proposals for registration of few societies were also recommended by the board members.

Local Area Development Plan (LADP) 2022-23 schemes for Dimapur I, II and III were also recommended by the House since all the proposals were in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Planning department, the DIPR report stated, without going into details.
