Kohima, May 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Power department has informed that an 8MVA, 132/33kV Power transformer at 132kV sub-station Kohima developed faults in the morning hours on May 25.

The said transformer initially showed signs of malfunctioning for which detail technical tests were carried out but was ascertained to be damaged, Er Penrithung, Chief Engineer (T&G) stated in a press release on Wednesday.

Due to the outage of this transformer, the capacity of 132kV Kohima sub-station is now effectively reduced to half of its installed capacity. Under this condition, there is no option but to regulate power in and around Kohima town by imposing load shedding particularly during evening and night hours till alternative arrangements are made, the release added.

Assuring that all measures are being taken to urgently restore the damaged transformer, the department requested all concerned to cooperate and bear with the inconvenience as it struggles to maintain power supply with the limited workforce and limited equipment capacity.
