Naga society needs a govt with clear vision: Tunyi

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) celebrated pre-Christmas at NPF headquarters in Kohima today.

On the occasion, NPF working president Thenucho Tunyi shared a message stating that Christmas is a season to renew friendships, a time to rededicate oneself and an opportunity for everyone to come closer to God. He also extended greetings to all the members of the party.

According to Tunyi, the scripture talks about the kingdom of God where Jesus rules for eternity and that an ‘earthly’ government that comes in alliance with the kingdom would be established for God’s glory. Taking the reference of political party leaders in today’s context who keep changing from one party to the other, he said that in contrast, ‘God’s kingdom has no defection.’

The working president, in this regard, maintained that the Naga society needed a government with clear vision to face socio-political changes and challenges. A government without a vision cannot bring any change in the society and therefore the believers must understand the need for a visionary government, he added.

Tunyi called on the NPF party workers to reach out to people at the grassroots and speak to them about the need for a government that has vision, and asked them to lead a life of example so that people will look up to them.

Stating that the party wanted to ‘uphold the Christian faith anywhere in the office or other workplaces,” he also mentioned names of some eminent party members who, according to him, were faithful servants of the Lord. Without being faithful, there is no success for a political leader, he maintained.

Christmas reminds the people that there’s hope in Jesus Christ alone, further stated while urging the gathering to rededicate themselves and invite Jesus to lead and guide them in their lives.

Earlier, secretary general, Achumbemo Kikon chaired the programme and P Shing Khiam pronounced the invocation while the Central Women Wing presented special numbers.
