31st Sumi Baptist Convention held

Kohima, October 31(MExN): Nagaland’s agriculture & cooperation minister G. Kaito Aye today stressed on the need for the people of Nagaland to come together as one to fight against all evils in the society.

Speaking the 31st Sumi Baptist Convention at Unity Baptist Church, Chümoukedima, he opined that Sumis should not be popular for war, hosting and celebrating festivals etc, but also should be known for their hard work, quality education and other values.

Touching on convention theme “Unity is Strength,” the minister reminded the congregation that it is difficult to build a society but easy to destroy it. If society is disunited, we cannot expect our children to be united in divided house.

He also appealed the people to pray for early solution to the Naga political issue.

Aye insisted on self-reliance of the Naga society including increase production of food products, saying “otherwise we may not be able to survive in critical times as we have been abandoning farming activities.”

The service speaker was Rev. Hukugha Zhimo ES, SBAK (Nito Mount) on the topic Church responsibility in healing our society and special song was presented by WSBAK, SBAK Centre Staff and by the TTC Choir.

The 31st Sumi Baptist Convention, which started on October 29, concluded today at Sumi Baptist Church Unity Village and was attended by the Pastor and one Deacon from each church under Sumi Baptist Convention.
