The All Nagaland Petroleum Dealers Union (ANPDU) joined the nationwide ‘No Fuel Purchase’ from oil companies on May 31.However, the fuel outlets in the state capital Kohima functioned normally.

ANPDU secretary general T Jabou Sekhose said that the union observed “No Fuel Purchase” day in protest against the government policy of gradually increasing the price of fuel; followed by sudden lowering of price. He said that this has affected the retailer as they have to sell stock earlier bought at higher price at a lower rate.

Making a comparison with the neighboring states, he requested Nagaland state government to lower the state taxes “so that the selling price of fuel become at par, if not lower, as that of the neighbouring states.

The ANPDU on Monday highlighted that the government’s sudden decision to cut fuel price selling price has had adverse effects on dealers.
