Nagaland Polls: Interstate borders to be sealed

Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): In view of the general assembly elections in Nagaland on February 27, Kevithuto Sophie, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur in an order stated that “for last 72 hours all interstate borders” will be sealed to prevent undesirable elements and materials being transported into Assembly Constituency from outside and to apprehend them if they attempt to do so.

In this connection, DCP Dimapur/Chümoukedima/Niuland has been directed to ensure the following at every Interstate entry point under respective AOR: Seal all check posts w.e.f the evening of February 25 till the evening of February 27 and disallow any thoroughfare; Intensify patrolling along the border and apprehend anyone attempting to crossover; Co-ordinate with neighbouring Districts Authorities of bordering states to ensure proper sealing of border. However, for movement of essential commodities/emergency services into the State should be coordinated with. 

DCP (Crime) cum PRO shall ensure wide publicity of this exercise, the order stated. “Further, Police Headquarters Nagaland has intimated that information the State Government and DGP Nagaland has already written to the counterpart States to extend assistance in this connection,” he added.
