DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (MExN): Plagued by lack of teachers in Singrep village of Kiphire district, the teaching and non teaching staffs of the Government High School in the village have adopted a resolution to ensure that the school staff stay in their place of posting and do their jobs sincerely.
A joint coordination meeting of the teaching and non teaching staff held a meeting on May 20 at the conference hall of the Singrep Village Council which comprised of the School Management and Development Committee, Headmaster, teaching and non-teaching faculties of the Government High School and Singrep Yangdong Suhdi Pumji (Singrep Village General Council).
The committee sent a representation to the Principal Director, School Education informing that as per the Singrep Village Students’ Union, the Government High School in the village does not have teachers for Math, Science, English and Hindi. It further stated that one ‘multi tasking staff’ has been at the District Education Office, Kiphire.
The committee asked the department to retain Tiarenla, Science teacher who was earlier transferred to Government High School, Singrep from Government High School, Old Risethsi; but was again transferred to Government High School, Pokhpur without attending the school “even for a day.”
It also appealed to the District Education Officer, Kiphire to detach the multi-tasking staff attached to DEO, Kiphire as the school is facing immense problems in its daily functioning due to absence of the staff member.
The committee meanwhile informed that as per the directive of the State Government, the practice of engaging a proxy teacher will not be allowed at any cost. Only government appointed substitute teachers will be allowed, it resolved.
It further stated that all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school shall stay at the respective posting place i.e at the village, as the accommodation and basic requirements are arranged by the Singrep Village Council.
It was further agreed that the staff quarters and water supply facilities, etc will be provided by the Singrep Village Council to all the teachers who are facing accommodation problem. The village council will also sanction a sum of Rs 10,000 annually for school maintenance.
