The new team of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) headed by Medovi Rhi as president assumed the office today for the tenure 2023 – 2025.

Addressing a press conference here today after undertaking the change of guard, Rhi spelled his vision to lead the Federation on the ground of unity, trust and a sense of patriotism.

The election for new team of the NSF was taken during 30th General Conference of NSF at Ukhrul town in Manipur on August 25 under the theme `Solidarity Beyond Borders’ and hosted by Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong.

Highlighting some of the activities in the last tenure, NSF outgoing president Kegwayhun Tep thanked the government of the day, particularly Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for honoring and respecting the voice of the student community by introducing NSSB “which is to ensure the right person is accommodated in the right position.”

“The NSF will continue to extend our fullest cooperation to the NSSB as well as the government to ensure that meritocracy, fairness is always there in any process of examination,” Tep said.

One of the pending issues the NSF could achieve in the last 2 years was the streamlining of RMSA & SSA teachers, he said. Tep said that the office of the NSF was vandalized on May 27, while terming it as “very saddening and very surprising.”

We want to call upon all the civil society organizations to come together and give a solution to this issue, he said.

On the Oting incident, he said that the NSF organized a mass rally and demanded a special assembly session, wherein it was considered and accordingly as per its demand, few of the places were lifted under Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA).

He said that NSF will continue its demand that AFSPA is completely removed from Naga homeland,
NSF outgoing general secretary Süpüni Ng Philo said “The NSF has standing resolution that until unless AFSPA is repeal or removed entirely from entire Naga homeland, the Naga people shall not extend any cooperation towards the Indian Armed Forces nor Para Military Forces,” he said.

Stating that this resolution still stands, Philo said that the resolution shall be taken forward by the new team.

On Indo-Naga political issue, Philo said “NSF will always remain steadfast in our approach towards ensuring that inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution is brought about at the earliest.”
