Patton graces KLSU jubilee

Deputy chief minister, Y. Patton urged the students community to make it their priority to preserve their tradition and culture passed on by the forefathers.

He was speaking as the special guest at the golden jubilee celebrations of Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU) at Naga Solidarity Park, here on Saturday.

Patton reminded the students and youths to also remember the struggles gone through by the elders in the formative years which had led them thus far.

He observed that as KLSU was celebrating its jubilee, it’s members should strive and continue to be torch bearers at the same time work for more achievement of the union.

He pointed out that living in the State capital Kohima was expensive and therefore whoever was able to study here should consider themselves blessed and accordingly dedicate themselves more.

Patton exhorted the students to learn proper usage of modern gadgets and make sure it does not hamper their studies in any way.

He pointed out that students should develop work culture in order to excel in their studies.

He said KLSU had contributed immensely to both the community and society and therefore urged the members to continue in that path.

Earlier, he unveiled the jubilee monolith after dedicatory prayer by Missionary-atlarge, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, Rev. Mhathung.
Theme speaker, Registrar, Nagaland University Hq Lumami, Dr Abemo said students should accept the challenges they faced and chart out a common future beneficial to all.

He said teaching of the gospel should not be limited to simply preaching but intertwined with the socio-economic living of the people in order to let it reach its full potential.

He pointed out that quality education should enable a person to be hard-working and self-reliant and not be mere paper degree.

“For a person to be successful in life there is no substitution to discipline and hard work. These qualities would guarantee the level of a person’s success,” Dr Abemo said.

During the programme, AG Lotha Church, Kohima, pastor, Khonbemo Ngullie invoked God’s blessings while benediction was offered by Lotha Catholic Khümshüm Kohima, catechist, Y Abel Lotha.

President’s address was delivered by Lirhonthung Kithan while jubilee report was shared by steering committee, convenor, Nchumthung Kikon.
Brief history of KLSU was shared by ex-president (1978-79), Y Vandanshan Lotha.

Jubilee blessings were offered by KLBC, Sr pastor, Rev Dr K Benry Lotha while vote of thanks was proposed by KLSU VP, Nchumroli Odyuo.
Special numbers were presented by Yentsso Von, KLBC choir and Zuchobeni Tungoe.
