Rising People’s Party, while lauding Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) for their bold stand against the practice of proxy teachers, appealed to the school education department and the government for prompt action in order to do away with the malpractice.

In a press note, RPP said it was high time that the students’ communities and organizations stood for what was right with regards to the Nagaland government educational system and to demand for urgently required changes in order to benefit lakhs of young students and their future.

RPP said it was aghast at the prevalence and practice of proxy teaching in almost all the government-run institutions, pointing out that this was one of the primary reasons for deprivation of ‘quality education’ among the future generation of the Nagas.

The RPP also appealed to the district education officer (DEO)as well as the sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) Zunheboto to stop fiddling around with the future of the young students and to look into the matter at the earliest so as to avoid unnecessary furore.

It may be recalled that the Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) on February 22 served a 15-day deadline on Department of School Education (DoSE) to completely eradicate the malpractice of proxy teaching in government schools in Zunheboto district headquarters. ZRSU warned that it would chart its own course of action if the department failed to act.
