SASU team visits children’s home at Khuzama village

Correspondent KOHIMA, JUN 27 (NPN) : As a gesture of solidarity during pandemic, outgoing executives of Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) Sunday visited Eden Garden Children’s Home (EGCH) at Khuzama Village.

Interacting with the visiting team, EGCH director, Fr Rajesh Lobo disclosed that at present 263 children (139 boys and 124 girls) were being cared for at the home.He said the home runs through the help benefactors

Established in the year 1975 by Fr StanyCeolho, Fr. Lobo said the children home initially had five children as the first boarders and the numbers gradually increased.

Ever since its inception,EGCH has been a home to children who are in need, orphaned, children from single parent families, economically weaker sections of the society, underprivileged and children from remote villages all over the state including some even from neighbouring states.

While ensuring support to children till matriculation, EGCH also extends help to those whopursue higher education with special focus onfemale children.

Taking note of the understandable plight the home might be facing considering the unprecedented pandemic situation, the visiting SASU team extended help to the home.

Meanwhile, SASU has also appealed individuals, organisations and NGOs to come forward to help support the home especially during this troubled times.
