Seed Capital Money of Rs 6.9 crore released for 3797 SHGs of Nagaland

Bringing cheers to the Self Help Groups (SHGs) fraternity in Nagaland, the Food Processing Industries Division under the Department of Industries & Commerce Nagaland today released Seed Capital Money to SHGs of Nagaland under PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME).

In a function held here at the Directorate of Industries & Commerce for seed capital money disbursal for SHGs of Nagaland, Industries & Commerce Advisor Hekani Jakhalu officially released Rs 6, 90, 30, 946 for 3797 SHG members from Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) and Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY- NULM).

Out of this amount, NSRLM will focus on 3454 SHGs groups and individual group members with Rs 5, 70, 22, 946 while DAY- NULM will focus on 343 SHGs groups and individual group members with the remaining amount of Rs 1, 20, 08, 000.
Accordingly, NSRLM and DAY- NULM will release the seed capital money to the respective SHGs.

“We want to make this venture a success story,” Jakhalu said after pressing a button for official release of seed capital money for SHGs of Nagaland.

Sending a clear message to all departments on the importance of convergence, she said the three parties- Industries & Commerce Department, NSRLM and DAY- NULM came together with a commitment to assist SHGs.

Stating that the department will be coming up with “Unity Mall” in the state, she insisted that when such infrastructures are in place, the SHGs and different districts must ensure that the products are put up in the market.

“We talk about Manipur as the powerhouse of sports. I want to see if we can make Nagaland as the powerhouse of food through the initiative of Industries & Commerce Department,” Jakhalu said.

The SHGs have to start preparing for this, she added.

Kiniholi Kinimi, State Mission Director, NULM & Secretary State Urban Development Agency and M Roland Lotha, COO, NSRLM also spoke at the programme. A Temjen Jamir, Director, Industries & Commerce and State Nodal Officer, PMFME Scheme delivered welcome address.

The programme was chaired by P Tokugha Achumi, Additional Director of Industries & Commerce while Mhasiphizo Khezhie, Food Technologist and Department Nodal officer for CSS- PMFME scheme proposed vote of thanks.

It may be recalled the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in partnership with the State/UT government launched an all India Centrally Sponsored PMFME scheme for providing financial, technical and business support to new and existing micro food processing enterprises, support to FPOs/SHGs/Cooperatives and branding and marketing support.
