SHG members sensitised on food safety, quality standards

DIMAPUR , July 29: Joining the rest of the country in commemorating of 75th Independence Day Anniversary (Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NSRLM), block mission management unit (BMMU), Changtongya RD block in coordination with health & family welfare (H&FW) department organised a workshop on Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license certificate for SHG producer members” on July 28 at Changtongya town.

In a press release, DAY-NSRLM informed that the workshop was organised with an aim to create awareness to the SHG members by following food safety and quality standards and getting registered with FSSAI, so that their products were quality assured and could be operated in the market without any hassle.

The workshop was presided by the block programme manager, Changtongya RD block, Moanungsang, food safety officer (FSO) Mokokchung zone, H&FW, Sukumlo Yanthan appraised the SHG members on the importance and benefits of getting registered under FSSAI; assistant district program manager Mokokchung Moatoshi accompanied the FSO and graced the event.

FSO Sukumlo Yanthan stressed that getting registered with FSSAI would ensure better service of the products, gain customers’ trust and also keep the customers from unhealthy and adulterated food supply.

After the workshop programme, online registration under FSSAI for SHG members was carried out. Altogether 105 SHGs and its members from across nine blocks under Mokokchung district were successfully registered under FSSAI.
