SJC’s 8th Ecofest stresses on sustaining heritage

Jakhama, March 25 (MExN): Under the theme “Sustaining Heritage in Economic Evolution,” the Department of Economics of St Joseph’s College Jakhama (Autonomous) organised its 8th Ecofest at the college’s Indoor Stadium on March 23. 

In the first session, Rithrong Yimkhuing, President of the Department of Economics, enunciated the importance of “glorifying our past, enriching our present, and securing our future.”

The session also witnessed the 1st and 2nd rounds of Mr. & Miss Economist, with Ruku Ltu (Mr. Josephite) and Tokilka K. Kishepu (Miss Kohima 1st Runners-up and Miss Convergence 2023) and Kelengol Neikha, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, serving as judges.

A debate competition on the topic “The Economy of Nagaland is growing up to its full potential” was also held.

The second session comprised Mad Ads, Economists Got Talent, and the final round for Mr & Miss Economist. 

Eventually, Hupeto K. Achumi of BA 4th Semester bagged the Mr Economist title, while Vimesanu Tase from MA 2nd Semester was crowned Miss Economist. 

Nzanthung and Vika were adjudged Mr and Miss Personality, respectively.

Meanwhile, the winner of the Smartphone Movie was Team Econ (BA 6th semester), while 4th and 6th-semester students (motion) won the debate competition.

The winner of Mad Ads was PG Economics, who presented a lucrative advertisement about “Axone and Lovely.” Nagamong Sor from BA 2nd Semester was the winner of Economics Got Talent. 

Team Eco-Empire (PG) was declared the Overall Champion of the 8th Ecofest, informed an SJC release.
