State COVID tally nears 4000-mark

DIMAPUR, AUG 30 (NPN): Nagaland COVID-19 tally inched towards the 4000-mark after 71 fresh cases were reported from across the state on Sunday. With this, the tally as on August 30 stood at 3922 cases– 887 active, 3017 recovered, 9 deaths and 9 migrated.

 

According to Health minister, S. Pangnyu Phom 49 new cases were detected in Kohima, 13 in Tuensang, 5 in Mokokchung, 2 each in Zunheboto and Dimapur.



As per the severity of symptoms, 874 cases are asymptomatic,11 mild and 2 moderate cases.

 

Further, out of the 3,922 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people include 1,673 cases from the Armed Forces, 1255 returnees, 283 frontline workers and 711 traced contacts.

 

India records world’s biggest single-day jump in virus cases
Agencies: India on Sunday set a new COVID-19 record when it reported 78,761 new infections in 24 hours, according to health ministry figures, passing the United States for the world’s highest single-day rise. The COVID-19 tally also zoomed past 35 lakh, just a week after it crossed the 30-lakh mark.


The total coronavirus cases rose to 35,42,733, while the death toll climbed to 63,498 with 948 people succumbing to the diseases in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.


The recovery rate has increased to 76.61 per cent while the COVID-19 case fatality rate has further declined to 1.79 per cent.


There are 7,65,302 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 21.60 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
India’s COVID-19 cases rose from 20 lakh to 30 lakh in 16 days and 10 lakh to 20 lakh in 21 days.
