Taxi meets with accident in Kohima, no casualties

A day after the tragic accident in Kandinu Village, under Tseminyu district claimed the lives of 8 people another accident was reported today in Kohima involving a Tata Sumo taxi. The accident fortunately did not cause any casualty. However, passengers were said to have sustained injuries.

 

Additional SP & PRO, Relo T Aye, informed The Morung Express that the incident occurred in Kravo, between Viswema and Kidima village under Jakhama, Kohima district around 10:00 am. The taxi was plying along the route, en route Kiphire from Dimapur. It was carrying 10 passengers—3 female and 8 male occupants when the accident occurred. 

Although the motor vehicle report was awaited during the time of filing the report, the PRO said that as per preliminary examination, mechanical failure of the brake caused the vehicle to skid and turn to the side while taking a turn. 

The PRO informed that 11 occupants including the driver and passengers sustained injuries. He said that 9 persons with minor injuries were treated at CHC, Viswema and left for their destination afterwards and two who had initially sustained serious injury were taken to Kohima for treatment and were admitted in Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and a private hospital. 
In the afternoon, their condition was said to be stable, Aye further informed.
