Together into the Future: Lakhuti Students’ Union Platinum Jubilee celebration culminates

The two-day 75th Platinum Jubilee celebration of Lakhuti Students’ Union (Lk.S.U) under the theme “Together into the future” culminated with Transport Commissioner, Motor Vehicles Department, Government of Nagaland, Elias T Lotha gracing the function as the special guest at Lakhuti Village Ground, Wokha on December 29.

The celebration begun with monolith stone dedication prayer by Rev Fr Peter Pithungo, Parish Priest, St Paul’s Church, Pungro, with unveiling of monolith stone by the special guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Elias T Lotha highlighted on the teachings of St Francis de Sales, emphasising on the importance of spreading infinite love to people around us during our time on Earth. He encouraged the gatherings to dwell in God’s love and also teach the love of God without ceasing especially in times of need. 

The special guest also encouraged the students to cultivate good reading habit by spending atleast one hour in reading and try to absorb the right knowledge as extracting the right knowledge is essential to fulfilling our role as carriers of wisdom.

Lotha Students’ Union President, Lirhonthung E Kithan in his greetings thanked all the village members of Lakhuti for extending their relentless effort and support to the Lakhuti Students’ Union fraternity. He mentioned that Lakhuti Students’ union is also one of the pioneering forces among the federating Lotha Students’ Unions. Furthermore, he underscored the consistent and unfailing support of the officers as a testament to Lakhuti village’s paving ways towards glory.

Lakhuti Officers Forum, President, L Jamithung Lotha in the exhortation stated that there is no shortcut to success and encouraged all the students to instill competitive spirit and work for it because tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. 

Ex MLA Y Sulanthung H Lotha encouraged the student to study hard and become responsible citizens of Lakhuti village while building strong connections with God.

In the 2nd session, special guest Albert Ngullie, Director, Department of Land Resources highlighted on the use of technology. He said the world has become a global village, a world encapsulated with digital technology that has become an integral part of this world. He also emphasised on the advantages and disadvantages use of the digital accessibilities and its harmful consequences. He mentioned that digital literacy is becoming as essential as traditional literacy around the world. 

The first session programme was hosted by Mhao Kikon and Mhayani M Humtsoe, greetings extended by LSU President, Lironthung E Kithan and Lakhuti Village Council, Chairman Mhonthung Yanthan. Vote of thanks was delivered by P Chuphathung Ngully and benediction by Leader, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Lakhuti Chonzamo Yanthan. 

The second session was chaired by Wonchibeni Kikon and Nzanti Ennie with welcome address by Russel Humtsoe and vote of thanks by Penthungo Y Yanthan.
