ULBs in Nagaland unite to form Nagaland Urban Council Federation

Kohima, March 25 (MExN): Three municipalities and 36 town councils in the state have decided to establish the Nagaland Urban Council Federation (NUCF) to promote the welfare of municipal and town councils.

A resolution regarding the same was passed during a consultative meeting between the three Municipalities – AKMWP (Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats), AWUMT (All Ward Union Mokokchung Town), and DUCCF (Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation), along with the 36 Town Councils of Nagaland on March 23. 

The meeting, held at Hotel Japfu in Kohima, also unanimously passed a resolution to set up new office bearers led by the three municipalities together with the town councils and to establish executive members from each district in the newly formed federation. 

Accordingly, the house resolved that the NUCF will be headed by President Thejao Sekhose (President – AKMWP); Vice President – Limanungsang (President – AWUMT); General Secretary – Zasivikho Zakiesato (President – DUCCF). 

The above office bearers would oversee the drafting of the constitution/bye-laws at the earliest and present it for approval to the house in the next meeting, informed a press release. 

The headquarters of the NUCF will be in Kohima, it added.
