Union Minister VK Singh inspects National Highway projects in Mon

DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): General (DR) VK Singh (Retd), Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation visited Mon district today and had a review meeting of National Highway projects in the district. 

The Union Minister met with the district administration and Head of Departments of Mon district at the DC Conference Hall, Mon, informed a report from the DIPR. The Minister said that for development and quality works in the district, local contractors are far better, as they have more space, development and more knowledge about the district.  

He further encouraged holding of entrepreneur workshops to train people who want to get into such businesses so that they can take all types of contracts. He meanwhile said that after 2014, the Central Government gave greater attention to the North East and now connectivity is better, and things are moving. He encouraged all to ensure that government activity is implemented with quality.  

The Minister also visited the District Hospital Mon after the meeting.

S Phangnon Konyak , Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha  welcomed the  Union Minister, HoDs of Mon district and expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his visit to Mon in spite of his busy schedule. Temjennaro Longkumer, NCS, ADC (HQ) gave a brief description about Mon district. The programme was chaired by Ajit Kumar Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Mon.
