Prime accused involved in murder of Nagaland cop arrested from Guwahati

Prime accused Yurreingam Ronra Shimray @Thangmeingam age 24 years S/O Starson R Shimray, Kharasom Lazo village, involved in the theft of a Scorpio car and subsequent murder of inspector Neiphretuo Metsie-o of Nagaland Armed Police was arrested today by RPF ( Railway protection force ), GRP ( Government railway police ) and Assam police, from Gauhati railway station around 7 pm.

Yurreingam had board the Dibrugarh- Rangia express train no. 15928 at Dimapur today at 12:10 pm in the afternoon and reached Gauhati around 6:30pm.

Based on subsequent tip off by the police to the RPF, all security personnel near the Gauhati train station were alerted and additional force were called in to to keep a sharp eye on the accused and apprehend him.

The accused resisted arrest when the security force went to apprehend him and ran away to a nearby building, but it was cordoned off quickly by the presence of many security personnel and subsequently he was arrested. With this arrest all the two accused in the FIR No. 0 Dated 15/9/18 U/S 302/392/201/202/34 IPC Kohima North PS have been arrested.

Suspected accused re-arrested by Nagaland Police

Earlier, one of the suspected accused in the killing of one Neiphretuo Metsie-o s/o Neisallie Metsie-o, Inspector 5 NAP has been re-arrested by Kohima North Police Station today at the Ukhrul Police Reserve Line. The arrested has been identified as Ringthingchon Lungharwo (21 years) d/o Luiham L of Lunghar village.

OC Chumdemo Odyuo and team re-arrested the suspected accused and have taken her to Kohima North PS this evening.

The main suspected accused Yuireingam Ronra Shimray alias Thangmeingam (24 years) s/o Starson Ronra Shimray of Kharasom Village, Ukhrul District Manipur who is also the husband of Ringthingchon had been absconding. In this matter an FIR No. O. dated 15/09/2018 U/S 302/392/201/34/IPC had been registered at Kohima North PS redirected to Kezhakeno PS.

A team of Ukhrul Police arrested the suspected accused Ringthingchon Lungharwo from Lunghar village on 15th September 2018 informed official of Ukhrul Police.

It is learnt that she started walking by foot from Phaibung on Friday evening and reached her village on Saturday noon. Ukhrul Police informed that the Ukhrul Police on getting the information swung into action and immediately arrested her in the afternoon itself, within a short time of her arrival at Lunghar.

It is learnt that Ringthingchon’s sister was married to one of the villagers from Phaibung. The main suspected accused had left Ringthingchon at Phaibung and had run away with the stolen vehicle with a man from Phaibung.

In this connection, a team of Jessami PS under the command of SDPO Jessami has also arrested one accomplice Mr. Anthony from Metikhru Village on 16th September 2018 and later handed him to OC of Meluri PS as informed by official of Ukhrul Police.

It is learnt that the stolen car broke down at a Power House Station, 4km away from Jessami village. Anthony was involved in providing the air filled spare tyre to the main accused and he was arrested for helping as informed by official of Ukhrul Police.

Ukhrul Police was reluctant to give further details information on the ground that the FIR was registered at Kohima North PS and was only extending cooperation to nab the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
