‘State one of first to develop curriculum for ECCE’

Week-long training on Early Childhood Care and Education & FLN concludes

Samagra Shikha, Nagaland Deputy Mission Director, Kelhikha Kenye said that teachers play influential role in the whole environment of the school which include not only children but staffs and other colleagues. 

He was addressing a valedictory function of a weeklong Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) block level training which concluded today at TM Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima. 

Informing that the state is one of the first to develop curriculum for ECCE and Pre Primary in line with National curriculum for foundational stage and also implementing new education policy, Kenye said it has now become imperative to create rich learning experience so that young children who have endless scope and opportunities to achieve their goals and a promising future ahead of them can achieve it through teachers who can nurture their dreams. 

Kenye, however, lamented that many teachers despite being paid a decent pay and allowance from the government are not doing their job with sincerity. 

The Deputy Mission Director said children are constantly growing and what has to be done to them should be done instantly so that they progress step by step.  In the teaching profession, he said there shouldn’t be any lackadaisical attitude which will delay the process of learning for children.

As the state is preparing to embark on a new journey for foundational learning of children with new perspective, Kenye asked teachers to exercise their full potential and be prepared to walk the talk. 

Speech on behalf of the trainees was delivered by Keneisetuo Joseph and Neilazonuo and summary of the training and administering of the pledge was administered by Zulumenla, ToT, EBRC, L. Khel. The programme was chaired by Kedivi Mekro, Head Teacher, GMS CWSN, Lerie. 

The training was organized by Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC), L. Khel School.  The resource persons were Zulumenla TOT; Kedivi Mekro Head Teacher GMS CWSN Lerie; Lanutola Vihienuo Core Team SCERT; Pelesienuo Khruomo, Core Team SCERT; Roseline Richa, Reader, SCERT; Lilavati Kivini, Primary Teacher GMS CWSN Lerie and Hiya Jemu, Pre-Primary Teacher, GPS High School Area.  Over 105 teachers from 35 schools earlier attended the training programme. 

During the inaugural function on March 18, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha, Dr Bijano Murry was the inaugural guest and feedbacks from the participants was delivered by CDPO, Aboi, Mon, Department of Social Welfare Limasangla and ToT EBRC, Noklak Puchai PM. Kelhikha Kenye gave a summary of the training. Vizoneilie Pienyü Coordinator, EBRC L Khel Kohima recorded the minutes of the programme.
