Students oppose decision to hold offline exams

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, Dec 1 (NPN) : A day after the Nagaland University (NU) authority, the higher education department and the principals of under graduate (UG) colleges unanimously affirmed to conduct the UG exams 2021 in offline mode, more than hundred students staged protest at Supermarket here Tuesday against the decision.

The agitating students contended that since the semester classes were conducted online during the pandemic period, the examination should also be held in the online mode. ANCSU president Toito Chishi, who was also present at the protest site, appealed to the students to cooperate and disperse. He informed the students that the decision of Nagaland University (NU) cannot be dictated. ANCSU president said that the union had appealed to the NU to re-examine its tentative examination schedule for undergraduates scheduled to be held through ‘offline mode’. Chishi requested the students to return home and continue preparing for the upcoming exams.

Later, after the intervention from the officials of ANCSU, the student protesters were pacified around 12 afternoon.

Meanwhile, ANCSU also condemned November 26 incident, wherein police resorted to lathicharge against students protesting.
