Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) in Nagaland recorded pass percentages of 82.04 in Arts, 88.97 in Commerce and 84.93 in Science in the HSSLC Examination 2026, according to a statistical report released in Kohima.
The report on GHSS in Nagaland and academic performance in the HSSLC examinations was brought out by the Nagaland Government Higher Secondary School Employees Association (NGHSSEA) during its general conference at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School here on August 22.
Nagaland School Education Advisor Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome launched the report in the presence of Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh, Director Razouseyi Vese, Additional Director Deenabandhu Panda and other officials.
GHSS Jotsoma recorded a 100 per cent pass percentage in both Arts and Commerce, while PM Shri GHSS Thangjam achieved a 100 per cent pass percentage in Commerce. TM GHSS Kohima recorded a 100 per cent pass percentage in Science.

Pooja Bharti of PM Shri GHSS Chumoukedima ranked seventh in the Arts stream, while Moaakum T Longlumker of PM Shri Mayangnokcha GHSS Mokokchung ranked 10th in Science. Ten students from GHSS across the state figured among the state subject toppers in Arts, Science and Commerce.
The report said Nagaland currently has 57 existing GHSS, with 56 offering Arts, 16 offering Commerce and five offering Science streams.
Earlier, Yhome said the School Education Department was redesigning the state’s school ecosystem around three key pillars — infrastructure, governance and curriculum.
NGHSSEA president Yekavi Swu said the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 had brought significant changes to educational administration and the teaching profession. He called for continued collective efforts to bring about change and also highlighted the aspirations of the higher secondary cadre.

The NGHSSEA currently has 779 employees. The conference also recognised achievers and schools for exceptional performance in the HSSLC Examination 2026.
