Dimapur, January 16 (MExN) An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 on the Richter Scale struck Assam’s KarbiAnglong on Monday. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the event occurred at 7:12 PM, with coordinates at latitude 25.764 and longitude 93.34.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.6, Occurred on 15-01-2024, 19:12:38 IST, Lat: 25.64 & Long: 93.34, Depth: 23 Km, Region: KarbiAnglong, Assam,” the NCS posted on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the NCS interactive map, the earthquake was felt in several areas of Assam, including KarbiAnglong, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Cachar, Karimganj, Nagaon, Morigaon, Silcha, among others. The tremor was also reported in Dimapur, Imphal, Shillong, and Imphal, as per the NCS map.
As of the filing of this report, there were no known damages to properties or casualties resulting from the earthquake.
