Noami Vese from GHSS Phek is winner of Declamation Contest

The ceremony to give away awards to winners of the state level declamation contest on My Bharat- Vikshit Bharat @2047 was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Nagaland Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland today at St Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School, Kohima.

Noami Vese, student of Government Higher Secondary School, Phek was adjudged winner of the State Level Declamation Contest organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Nagaland. She was awarded with cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with certificate. 

Leahh Yeptho, a student of St Joseph College, Jakhama, Kohima district was awarded 2nd prize and won Rs 50,000, Ikali Achumi, student of Zunheboto government college, Zunheboto district and Zaingwang from St Xavier College, Peren district won 3rd prize and received Rs 25,000 each. All winners were also given certificates. 

Kohima town MLA Dr Tsielhoutuo Rhütso while addressing an attendance of students as the special guest implored that it is the young people of the nation who would contribute towards achieving the nation’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He said, we need the youths, ideas and innovation from young people to see what idea wants to attain in 100 years of independence. 

Rhütso said under Viksit Bharat by 2047, the government is envisioning to make India one of the most powerful nations in the world, one of the most developed, self reliant, with best medical facilities and a nation towards environmental sustenance and economically empowered country. 

For this reason, the MLA said the government is putting emphasis on education so that not only Indians are educated properly but education is made accessible and quality education is provided. 

Rhütso said until and unless one has a vision, even as a student, no goals can be achieved. But at the same time, he reminded the students that everyone was capable of achieving ones dreams. 

“For that, one needs dedication, commitment and hardwork and a constant touch towards our vision despite ones brilliance or other advantages,” the MLA said adding that the young people were the torchbearers of the Viksit Bharat. 

Rhütso congratulated all the winners of the competition and hoped that there are more such platform in higher levels to mould talents of the youths. 

Earlier, Deputy Director, NYKS, John Makhabo while chairing the programme said it is a compelling aspiration to see India envisioning a developed nation by 2025 by exploring multi faceted dimensions of Viksit Bharat 2047. “This encompasses economic growth, social development, technological innovation, environmental sustainability and global leadership,” Mokhabo said. He called the students to envision how one would like our own villages to look in 10-20 years adding that without a dream and action today, tomorrow will be very late

The 1st Winner declamation, Noami Vese, Student of Government Higher Secondary school, Phek also delivered the winning speech during the programme. 

The welcome song was presented by SMCHSS students and Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph, Principal, SMCHSS delivered the welcome address and Vivozolie Kiwe, NYKS gave the vote of thanks.
