Kohima, March 18 (MExN): All the police personnel both civil and armed “have left/moved out from their camps,” Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation stated today after a visit to Kezoltsa/ Kozürü/Kazing  on March 16.

A press release from the Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TPO) informed that its President and officials accompanied by the President, Nagaland Zeliang Peoples’ Organisation, General Secretary Rengma Hoho and the President, Tenyimi Union Dimapur visited the sites.

“The team found that all the police personnel both civil and armed have left/moved out from their camps. This is for general information,” added the release issued by Timikha Koza President, TPO and Kathu Rengma, General Secretary, TPO.

The “general information” from the apex Tenyimi organisation may results in the ending of an ongoing tense standoff over a land dispute in the area.

On March 15, The Morung Express had reported that Manipur security forces, IRB and police, stationed in two locations at the disputed site of Kezoltsa/Kozürü, shifted to different locations on Friday.

The Manipur IRB forces abandoned their area of station at the disputed site and were relocated to a place called ‘Raku Kokubu,’ some distance away from Kezoltsa/Kozürü area while Manipur police personnel have returned to Mao Gate Police station, it reported.

The Mao Council, in a letter addressed to the Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO), with copies to Naga People’s Organization, Senapati and the Angami Public Organization on March 15 also confirmed the development.

The TPO’s “general information” assumes significance in view of the March 6 directive by the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) to Mao citizens residing within Angami jurisdiction in Kohima to return to their respective native villages as per customary norm.
