Shisalen Riju – free coaching centre brings hope for NPSC, NSSB aspirants

An initiative of Mokokchung DPDB sponsored through Common Pool under LADP

Shisalen Riju, a coaching center to provide free coaching classes with special focus on NPSC and NSSB exams, was inaugurated by Metsubo Jamir, Minister, RD & SIRD at Tzusapang sector, Mokokchung on February 19. 

Shisalen Riju is an initiative of the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board and is fully sponsored through the Common Pool under LADP.

Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC Mokokchung & Convenor, Shisalen Riju in his welcome address stated that the centre will help students in Mokokchung to have a competitive edge over other students. He mentioned that the project was the brainchild of Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor, Water Resources and Chairman DPDB and thanked him for the noble and benevolent idea. He also shared gratitude to the ten elected MLA members from Mokokchung for their contribution towards the common pool. 

Chumlamo further mentioned that LADP funds are often misused but this contribution will have a positive impact on the community and will be uitlised for the welfare of the community. It is located on the erstwhile Baptist English School site at Tzusapang Sector under Mokokchung Village. 

Tongpang Ozukum, Advisor, Water Resources and chairman DPDB, in his speech said that Shisalen Riju will help educated unemployed through and hoped that the noble venture will bear fruit in the future. He immensely thanked all the elected members for coming up with the noble idea and added that the project will continue till their tenur, 2023-2028. 

He also thanked the Management Committee for their commitment towards the success of the centre and also thanked ABAM and the land owners for their generosity on behalf of the DPDB.

He further added that the inaugural of Shisalen Riju was a small but a significant programme and reminded the students to be mindful of their discipline and not to take advantage of the free classes.

Metsubo Jamir, while speaking at the occasion said that this project will perhaps be a first initiative taken for the people and expressed his gratitude to all who have contributed towards the project.

He said that it is not an easy  to train a person for his life and that in coaching the teacher have to be equally motivated and students needs to be dedicated. He said that there is a difference between mentoring, coaching and training and added that coaching is objective oriented where students have to be dedicated enough to assimilate and put into use what they learn. 

He further added that the since coaching institute is NSSB and NPSC oriented, the teachers should be equipped to deal with the different subject matter. He also mentioned that since more job opportunities are available in the private sector, we also need to cater to private sector jobs also. 

Dr Sentitula, IFS, gave the vote of thanks while Rev W Supong, Pastor, Tzusapang Baptist Church said the dedicatory prayer. 

Shisalen Riju will be administered by a Director with Finance cum Office Manager and a Multi-tasking staff. Qualified faculty members are recruited for teaching specialized subjects in accordance to the prescribed syllabi. A six member Management Committee of the Shisalen Riju was nominated by the DPDB Mokokchung. 

The Institute envisions for providing distinctive and relevant professional academic guidance and mentoring to enhance the students’ proficiency for competitive examinations and build them to be responsible citizens.
